SURPRISE
It's happening!!
Enyo may have made some questionable decisions of late.. which may or may not have been inspired by her impending motherhood but both her and Bensen are excited to welcome their little ones into the world!
They will be having 4 cubs!
3 Females and 1 Male!
I (DeaVita) and Kattykinz will be taking a girl each!
So there will be one boy and one girl up for grabs!
The cubs are being born January 10th!
Tryouts will end January 7th at 11:59PM.
More deets!!
After Enyo's little adventure beyond the walls she was caged until her owner sold her to Bensen's, wanting to wash his hands of his failure of a pet and her impending offspring.
She'll be retrained as a low stakes fighter to keep the money coming in once she's recovered after the babies arrive, but she's under close watch and not allowed out alone until she re-earns trust!
They'll be raised next to the docks, either in their masters nearby home or on his ship most of the time! They will loved and cherished but Benny will be the more fun loving easy going dad while Enyo is more likely to lean more towards stricter ambitious mother. She's trying not to be as overbearing as her own mother was but her strict upbringing will still peek through. They will likely be sold as they grow up and while she won't demand they all tryout as warden Apprentices, she hopes they'll be driven towards their own aspirations and work hard accordingly.
While they are purebred, Enyo is no longer as stuck up and racist she was raised to be. They'll be raised to be polite and kind, but Enyos slightly rash and overbearing nature might cause a few issues if rule breaking and disobedience become common place.
There isn't a name theme but they would be likely to pic names relating to the gods (Egyptian or greek/roman), egyptian themes, nautical themes, or things of value. For example, mine will probably be called Ebony.
Couple of loose rules
Life happens. We get it. Strikes aren't the end of the world. Just try and vaguely stay in contact and if you don't want to keep your baby let us know and we'll do our best to rehome them!
Let us know if you think you might want to have your kid leave the city and join another faction. We'd rather they stuck around at least for 6 months and chat us through and involve us in the plot if you do want to take them elsewhere!
4. Ultimately, We Decide Who Joins our Family. Poe and I reserve the right to make any decisions regarding who joins this family with these cubs in the end. If you don't get chosen, please don't get upset with us! It happens to the best of us. We are not obligated to give anyone a cub, and we hope you understand!
Check out their fam!

Where: Venia's masters abode
Summary: Iris introduces her daughter to her friend who will be her new mentor in prep of becoming a pet or breeder after Enyo causes too much disurbance in the Tribune Gardens! Venia teaches Enyo how to walk!
Enyo
Enyo padded dutifully behind her mother's tail and head dipped in a dejected manner. Though her eyes were narrowed with thinly veiled anger. She could still feel the bruises from her encounter with the annoying hybrid Levi. But the telling off she'd received after had hurt just as much. Judas had informed her mum that if she was going to cause such issues with the other cubs... The Tribunes that were supposed to be in the gardens.. Then perhaps she should find somewhere else for Enyo to spend her time...
And thus they approached a rather stately villa. Her mother stopped at the threshold to a courtyard that looked like it was more designed for cats thans, through her mother's legs she could see a few human servants tending the area. She jumped as her mother chirped, alerting the occupants to their presence. Her mother had warned her to watch her tongue and behave herself well in advance of them setting out... Least she embarrass their family. She squinted against the sun trying to spot if their was an approaching cat.
Perched up by the columns lining the entrance to the internal feline quarters, a small pale she cat was sunning herself out of the way of many footsteps. Paws well rooted in routine, Venia could easily tell when something different was due to happen. Most other felines in the house had made themselves scares, although the human footstep still vibrated through the cool tiles underpaw. Most did not know what await this morning; and whilst Venia had did not know the exacts her ears were primed. A brief visit the night before meant the femine cheetah chirp that followed the hush was not unexpected.
Rising up from aside the pillars, she made herself visible and silently wandered up towards the regal hunter, noting the second body and breath close by; and curtised in respect. "Iris; it is a delight to have you here today along with your daughter. Would you like some water after your travel?"
"Remember what I said about manners" her mother warned again in a hushed but targeted tone.
As a pale feline approached she couldn't help but have her mouth open of its own accord. She looked blind. What was she going to learn from a cat that couldn't even see her? She would just slip away as soon as her mother left.. Not that that was a good idea...
As her mum dipped in a mirrored curtsey of the showey pet she tried to mimic the movement but ended up just a wobbly bunch of knees.
She stayed silent as watched for her mothers response. "The pleasure is all mine, thank you so much for inviting us here. I would love a quick drink, though I mustn't be too long." the pale cheetah eyed her daughter. "But the roads are dusty today and I'll stay a short while to make sure Enyo here settles okay."
SETTLES?? What was she a nursing cub? She narrowed her eyes to stare at the floor..
The she-cat nodded in understanding, choosing not to react to the hushed huffing from Enyo. She lead the cheetah pair to the entrance of the quarters, two large shallow bowls filled with water rested either side. Out of courtesy Venia also took a few laps of water, however stop swiftly to make room for the mother-daughter pair.
The she-cat used this brief moment of silence to briskly evaluate the younger of the two she-cats. She seemed sturdly built, but didn't have the balence or grace of her mother. This wasn't an issue, something that could easily be rounded out with some focused practise, however that wasn't the prime cause for concern.
Ears finely attuined due to her blindness, Venia had not missed Iris's quiet comments to her daughter, and on top of last night's visit, it left a lot to be desired. Attitude would be the main issue at paw, and would likely only reveal itself fully when Iris had left. Oh joy.
"I think it shrewd of me to ask," She said when they had finished drinking, "if you have explained the purpose of this visit yet to Enyo." Venia did not fancy becoming the new target of this child's energy unless Enyo knew she was here by the authority of her mother. She needed Enyo to respect her as in-charge, even if it was with tepid hatred.
Enyo
As they set off from the entrance and moved further into the courtyard, the young cats glared around at her surroundings. There seemed to be some exercise equipment which perked her up a bit but a mere glance back to their host reminded her that this was unlikely to be anything to do with why they were here. She wished she wasn't so thirsty so that she could turn down the drink but her tongue longed for the cool water. She reluctantly took up her space in front of the bowl once their host had finished up and took a few long laps, her eyes still downcast. She held her tongue as her mother had structured but she wasnt going to enjoy this.
Once her mother had finished they both moved to the side and followed Iris' lead in sitting down. "I have explained that her behaviour yesterday towards one ofbher peers was unacceptable and that today she would start off learning how she should hold herself" She looked up at her mother with angry but pleading eyes. Pleading her mother ignored.
"I have eluded to it but perhaps it'd be best if I explained a bit more clearly. Our owner has chosen Enyo to be a companion rather than a hunter. As i explained lasr night. Which is NOT a bad thing" she glanced towards her daughter, "however I fear due to my job and her exposure to tribunes, she is not cultivating the manners or behaviour that is becoming of a pet or breeder. Which is were you come in. Venia here is one of the most elegant and cultured felines in the city and you could learn a lot from her. She has agreed, thank the gods, to tutor you in the ways of a cultured well mannered companion feline. And you will do well to listen to her advice and training, do you hear me?"
The darker cheetah listened intently. Hoping beyond hope this wouldn't be what she thought it was. And yet.. She was disappointed. A pet. That was an insult. She DID NOT WANT TO BE A PET. She however stayed silent, she knew it would be no good to respond to her mother badly. Her lectures last night were enough to have her hold her tongue.. For now. She merely nodded in resignation.
Venia sat upright and attentive despite the fact that most of Iris's instruction was common knowledge to her. She knew well from Ronald, a long term hunter new to her household, that depending on their owner and rank, hunters did not need the same degree of etiquette as pets. Their job was based their efficiency unless they were publically representing the hunter class like on a city patrol. It was a fact she had learnt the hard way, but thankfully many of the hunters she associated with (appart from the detested Amon-Ra) did also enjoy the formalities of etiquette.
Dipping her head to the smaller feline, Venia felt somewhat confident they could achieve something. It couldn't too much worse than the other cubs they have had staying in her household, right? Nothing could be worse than Serentiy being kidnapped by Stone Empire. They could do this. "It will be strict, however I am sure if you commit yourself to practise early on it will become natural for you in time. A companion feline's greatest achievement in life is to live up to the standard and purpose of which their master sent them out for."
Iris nodded with a small sigh of relief as of she'd really thought Enyo would show her up the moment they walked through the gate..
Enyo lifted her head high and looked squarely at the cat infont of her. Like it would be that hard to walk prettily and be polite. Her siblings would be spending their days training hard to protect the occupants of the city and she was expected to 'train' to be a lay about. She'd show them. She'd do as she was told and be home before they knew it. And then maybe they could show her the ACTUALLY useful stuff that they were learning.
"Well then I will endeavour to learn whatever it is you have to teach as fast as possible" She finally spoke up, unable to keep the snark out of her words.
A swift flick from her mothers tail and a glare assured her the vemon had not been missed.
Least to say, the responce was not what the serval was hoping - why, Iris hadn't even left yet and the she-cat was already kicking against the goads. It was not a good start. She let the she-cats statement sit in an uncomfortable amount of silence to make it clear she heard her loud and clear, maintaining an equally uncomfortable blind gaze.
Once she felt everyone had definately got the point she finally replied, "First lesson starts now in that case: simple social etiquette. Do not burn bridges through harsh speech or sarcasm. If you have a question about my methods; you will ask me politely but directly, in a question format, and address me as 'Lady Venia'. Now how about you try that previous comment again."
The dark haired cheetah cub bristled as she felt her elders displeased gazes apon her. She hadn't always been like this. She'd always tried to do her best, to be a good child. Until it became obvious that her life wasn't to be what she'd wanted. What she'd dreamed of. She wanted to be a good cat and daughter. She really did. She just couldn't understand how looking prim was going to achieve that. Surely the best calling was that of a protector.. Like her mum and dad. Not as some lay about.
She tried to hold herself as the sightless eyes bored into her. The longer the silence the more obvious the displeasure. This cat had a steel to her she hadn't expected. Her gaze seemed to strip her back, they either saw her soul or saw straight through her. She wasn't sure which. She tried her best to avoid an uncomfortable wiggle of a chided cub but alas her rebellious body did not agree. It was almost a relief when the cat spoke up.
Lady Venia
It seemed simple sass wouldn't not fluster her apparent new tutor. She paused before responding biting her lip slightly...
"I.. I will endeavour to learn your.. Er.. Ways... Lady... Venia"
She managed to finally spit out the words, they seemed to stick to her tongue. She was unsure if it was out of malice, frustration, or nervousness.
"You will endeavour and you will succeed." Venia assured her, although her tone remained stagnant. The serval was not one to open up quickly, and this cub would not be earning any trophies of pity from her currently. Still, commendation was due where obedience was shown; after all, obedience was a prized trait in all pets.
Happy that everything was falling into place, the serval turned back towards Iris and dipped her head in acceptance of the task ahead. “I will train her in the same instruction I have gained, and if there are any issues I will make them known to you. Enyo, you will be able to return home before twilight - assuming no exceptional circumstances.” Venia hoped dearly that the she-cat would be able to walk herself home, however if the fret of the slasher or any other dangers grew too large she would have to employ the help and support of Ronald or Horus as escorts.
The young cat nodded absently, her ears flopped sideways... Succeed at becoming the thing she'd been ridiculed for... Not exactly something she was thrilled about but she held her tongue.
Her mother nodded gratefully "I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to help us like this, I am in your debt" the pale cat lowered her head in thanks. She rose to her paws, sparring Enyo one last pointed look, to which the chocolate young one only responded with silent pleading. "Thank you once again for your hospitality, I can see myself out" she smiled warmly at Venia before trotting towards the exit.
Enyo stared in dismay as her mother vanished out the gate. She turned back to her host and shuffled uncomfortably. Biting her lip to avoid the words she so wished to say falling out...
There was a period of quiet that followed Iris leaving, both she-cats seemingly aware of the thick atmosphere between them. Venia for one was evaluating with the limited information she had just gained what the best start point would be for Enyo. It seemed that Iris's suspicion was indeed correct, and the youth had not been exposed to enough pet culture to understand the mindset behind it. She could only see what it was not. Venia in fact knew Enyo was being too biased on the matter, knowing that some more active companion pets still enjoyed different forms exersize and entertainment when they weren't on duty. It was simply an issue of bringing her around...
"A formal introduction is in order now that pleasantries have been extended," She started, deciding to go right back to the basics, "I am Venia, head pet of the house of Aulus Seius Lurco of the Equestrian Class. I have been a pet all my life, around 7 years, and have learnt everything through trial. I will tell you the biggest lesson I have learnt than you will also need to learn: disobedience to human demand does not result in being exulted to a higher position or more freedom. Quite contrary; you will suffer concequences worse than any feline authority can punish you with. If you want to earn anyone's respect, and thus their trust and the ability carry out additional responsibilities and freedoms, you will listen to what I say and you will follow the heels of your master loyally."
The serval paused, her ears tuned in and forward in focus. "Ideally you will serve out of the wholesome desire to display your love to your family and master for the love and care they have shown to you all your life. However if the kindness they have shown you in your entire life doesn't stir your heart to loyalty; you would be wise to remember the alternative." Done with her little lecture; she sat down and visibly relaxed slightly. "Do you know what you hope to gain or learn from this training?"
Serve. Obedience. Loyalty.
These were not new concepts to Enyo. Her mother, despite being a hunter first and a pet second, had not skipped this part of teaching. And she agreed with the mentality, humans were the masters and she wanted to serve. She just didn't understand how lying around all day did that... She nodded as the pale cat mentioned how failure to comply to her masters demands would cause issues. She liked getting her way but she wasn't stupid. Her owner wasn't a push over... And his new wife definitely seemed to have views on how her and her siblings should behave, she was pretty sure she was part of the reason she'd been earmarked as a pet, she was fond of her parties and looks judging by how annoyed she'd been when her and Apo had been caught playing in her dressing room...
She clocked her as the pale cat finished her lecture and relaxed a bit. What did she want to learn? She had a choice?
"I.. I want to learn.. How to make my humans happy.." If she was going to make this end faster she would do her best to go with it. She closed her mouth before she remembered her earlier reprimand. "Lady Venia"
Venia
Closely following the words of her new apprentice, Venia was satified with her responce. "Once we have set a good foundation and addressed any issues that arise; I shall endevour to focus on that then so you can reap the benefits of what I am teaching you at pace." The quicker Enyo could see the practicality of pet life, the quicker she would gain motivation to be content with that life.
"First though we need address feline-to-feline etiquette since you would not be here if you applied such teachings." Finally rising, she wandered down towards the grass clearing and sat a few tail lengths away. "Both felines and humans will demand controlled body language for it builds trust before any words have even been spoken. As body language is the only way to 'converse' with humans it is important towards your goal; however it arguably carries even more importance in communication with felines." Tilting her head, she guestured towards where Enyo was sitting. "To get a grasp of what your control is like at the moment, please can you apply what you have already been taught from your mother and others and simply walk towards me and back again."
Enyo nodded, not trusting her tongue to behave hoping her face was as blank as the pale feline's in front of her... She begrudgingly decided that a regal bearing like hers could come in handy....
Walk? She wanted her to walk back and forth.. Did that reallllly matter? She tilted her head sceptically. "How can you tell how much 'control' i have from me walking? Aren't you blind?" she got up and started walking towards her before she remembered the "Lady Venia". She placed one foot infront of the other trying to mimic how her mum walked.
Carefully listening and feeling the vibrations through the ground, Venia found splitting her concentration between holding a conversation and thinking over Enyo's steps fairly difficult. It could be described as... a more concentrated version of the stress she felt in crowds. Hence, a small frown creased her forehead, however she kept her tone of voice level in reply.
"I am blind, which means I largely get around by sound and vibrations. Depending on how you walk will affect how heavy or light your gait is. If I can feel that you walk is off by the vibrations, then it will be off visibly too." Venia kept quiet for a moment, thinking over how to word the conclusion she was coming too from this brief experiement.
"Enyo dear, your walk... it doesn't have a natural rhythm to it. I can tell this isn't natural for you, and it won't look natural to anyone looking on. To be blunt, in a social situation it will spoil most first impressions by making you look unbalenced like a child" The cheetah was also very heavy footed, but that could also be for the same reason of inexperience. "There is a simple method to get better at it though, so that will be our focus. Tell me, do you have a long stretch of hallway in your home?"
Enyo nodded as Venia spoke of the vibrations and how she used them to get around. "That's pretty cool.. Do you have problems with lynx because of their fluffy feet?" she mused..
She was annoyed by the serval next words. Unbalanced child. So much for trying. She pouted and resisted snapping about it.. I only just.
"I do yes" she snapped, though she grimaced as the words left her mouth. Maybe her mother was right about the inability to control her emotions...
Venia didn't get to answer Enyo's lynx feet question before the cheetah reacted strongly to her observation. Strongly and negatively. It didn't take much thinking to guess at what had upset her, correction was hard to recieve nobly for most, and Enyo was no exception.
Once again she paused, to let the outburst calm but also to think over her reply. For the most part Venia tried her best to remain unphased, apart from the inevitable flinch that came alongside loud outbursts. It seemed shrewd of her to not neglect the lesson at hand, however Enyo did need to understand that publically displaying frustrations that could be overlooked was harmful to herself.
"In answer to your first question," she began finally, "It depends on how they are walking. A sand cat is probably the hardest to hear due to his furred paws and light build."
Pausing again briefly, she continued, "As for this training, most cats find it easier to step lightly and centrally when moving at speed. Such a hallway is useful as you can pace yourself well down it with minimal interruptions, allowing yourself to gradually progress from a controlled run to a balenced walk."
Finally she stopped, and narrowed in her ears on the young cat in front of her. "As you might be coming to see, a lot of this training is learning to control what you have previously being doing from force of habit. Speach, walk, manners - if you don't practise it, you will only fall back into old habits." It wasn't direct coucil on her outbreak, but if Enyo meditated on it, perhaps she would see some simple ways which she could work on to break her current behavior.
She bit her tongue wishing that she hadn't been born with what her mum described as bees in her belly. She wished she was more laid back like Apophis.. Then she might even have friends..
She nodded quietly as her new tutor answered her questions, and mindful of the loaded pauses...
"So you're saying I need to practice running up and down a corridor and slowing down my pace..." That didn't come out right.. She didn't mean to make it sound sarcastic. Honestly....
"Err.. I like this?" before Venia could give her a disappointed look she ran away and then back to the serval. Not at full sprint but more than a speedy jog.
What the cat was saying made sense.. She just wished it would be quick fixes.. Not tons of practice...
Venia's ears twitched in frustration, however Enyo thankfully seemed to be learning and addressed her comment. That warrented positive commendation for it was a good start in learning to be able to control her tongue.
"Yes, that is much better. Keep being mindful of maintaining your posture through that transistion and it will start to come naturally in your walk."
The pair continued with this for a little bit longer until Venia felt like Enyo had seen the up and down of the training courtyard enough for one day. Calling her over to one of the drink bowls she tilted her head towards the she-cat. "I hope today hasn't been too trivial, we are going to have a few foundation lessons like this before we can practice with others, just so we both are on the same page with what is expected."
Why were short jogs so tiring. She felt like he'd run the length of the city... She gratefully lapped up the cool water. Hoping that the repetitive dull jog had had an impact on her disappointmenting walk.. Not that she could really tell to be honest.
It hadn't been that unpleasant though... It was better than being berated by the other tribunes abiut her not being worthy of being there. Though she did miss making them eat their words...
"It was good" she responded. She didn't exactly enjoy it but it wasn't as unpleasant as shed thought it would be. "I understand" she nodded. I remembering the words her mother had said on their wall here. "Thank you for your tutoring, it will help me greatly with my future" it was obviously scripted but.. She meant it for the most part..
Venia nodded in thought to Enyo's comments, deciding not to take offense as it took practise to control your tone to sound natural. A poker face wasn't the most admirable trait to think about in concept, but it helped maintain appearances in stressful situations. Thinking about it, that would be very useful for Enyo to learn. Something for a future lesson...
"The pleasure is mine." She said, balanced in tone as always, "It is a learning experience for both of us. For you: to reach your goal of adapting to your humans; and for me, to learn from your reciprocation my own convictions." In truth, learning how to convey her reasons for stoic loyalty to another with feeling was indeed going to be a learning curve - but a welcome one. "Together we will be wiser for this."
Enyo nodded, almost smiling at the pale serval. She was odd and very.. Proper. But... this experience really hadn't been as bad as she'd imagined it would be. Maybe things would be better. Maybe if she was really good her owner might see she would make a good guard like Nile.
"I look forward to our next lessons". She replied in like, still very much scripted but it was not a complete lie. She shuffled uncomfortably, itching to get home... "Can I... Leave now?"
"I do too." The serval nodded in agreement, taking in a deep but quiet breath of relief. Perhaps this would not be as bad as she anticipated. Enyo could come to delight in bringing joy to her master and others yet.
After a few moments of quiet, Enyo's unsure reply did spawn a compulsive smile on the serval's face. Venia wasn't sure if it was caused by her surprise that she was asking to leave, or the manner in which she asked it. "Enyo, you are excused and are free to go home. Tell your mother you have been excellently behaved today," She purred.
Enyo nodded, "I will" she called happily as she hopped to her feet and sprinted to the door, and excited to see her siblings and mum again. She skidded to a halt as she realised she probably should have said something more.
"THANK YOU LADY VENIA"
She shouted across the courtyard before zipping out of the gates, almost hearing Venia's words about raising one's voice...
FINALLY got round to uploading one of my fav recent rps! My deliquent Enyo being introduced to Venia for the first time after a particullary unlady like fight in the tribune gardens lands her in hot water.
